Meet Paige, a Huron Pines AmeriCorps member serving with the DNR, who is embarking on a statewide tour of Michigan’s rustic state forest campgrounds. Paige came up with the Project Rustic concept during her first AmeriCorps service term. She suggested that the best way to interpret these rustic destinations for future travelers is to experience them firsthand. Throughout her five-month tour in a recreational vehicle provided by General RV, she will snap photos, gather site information and collect GPS and GIS data for improved mapping of the campgrounds and associated trails. Follow Paige on the Project Rustic page, where she will be sharing tips and tricks for traveling rustic and more. Hear more about the project on Michigan Runner Girl’s podcast: Michigan state forest campgrounds, 1 RV, 1 epic summer.
